Born in Cornwall, UK, and went to sea as a boy on merchant ships from Liverpool. Eventually obtained a Board Of Trade Ocean-Going Master Mariner Certificate after working through ranks.
Sailed world-wide as Navigating Officer and Shipmaster on several types of vessels, owned by companies from different countries, and under various flags. Along the way met and married a young lady seafarer from Trinidad, and was then based in the West Indies for several years.
Eventually swallowed the anchor when immigrated to Canada, and had a successful business venture in Salmon Arm, BC.; retired to Vancouver Island several years ago.
A life-long addiction to international news and politics at all levels has been remedied for many years by scribbling Letters to the Editor.
